FOLLOW YOU INTO THE DARK
We at Trøndelag Centre for Contemporary Art would like to welcome you to the opening on Friday September 3rd at 7 P.M!
Lisa Stålspets is working with painting, video, sculpture, drawing and text.
Her artworks are often concerned with different ways of perceiving reality and interpreting impressions.
They generate or describe a progression of thought, they often contain a change in understanding and reveals new angles of perception.
Instead of making art people haven't seen before, the artist wants to show things that are already familiar to us, but at the same time filled with new contents.
Lately, Stålspets has been working with the idea of nature as a metaphor for psychological adventures and experiences.
The image of nature has traditionally been in a contrast ratio to civilization. Mans image of nature through different epchs, is in itself a clear image of which culture the paintings are created in.
The video ' Follow you into the dark' (2010), takes us on a journey through a car-tunnel under construction, while listening to a monologue of various dreams, overlapping each other. The video is in various ways a journey into the unknown. A series of paintings portraying fictional landscapes and nature will also be exhibited in the show.
